Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

Introduction

Capnot respects your privacy. This policy explains what data Capnot collects and how it is used. The short version: almost none.

Data Collection

Capnot does not collect, store, or transmit personal data. There is no analytics, no telemetry, and no tracking of any kind.

Speech Recognition

The Live Captions feature uses the macOS Speech Recognition API. All speech processing happens entirely on your device. No audio data ever leaves your Mac.

Screen Recording Permission

Magnifier Mode requires the macOS Screen Recording permission. Screen content is processed locally and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted to any server.

License Validation

License keys are validated via the Polar.sh API. Only your license key is transmitted during validation. No other personal data is sent. See the Polar.sh Privacy Policy for details on their data handling.

Local Storage

Capnot stores your license key and user preferences locally on your Mac. There is no cloud sync or remote storage.

Third-Party Services

The only third-party service used by Capnot is Polar.sh for license validation. No other third-party services, SDKs, or analytics platforms are integrated.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
